Robert Fisher- Arizona- 2001

There are strong similarities between these unidentified remains found in the Flat Tops Wilderness in Western Colorado in 2004 and Fisher. The believe the date of death was no earlier than 1999. The location would be accessible only by foot by hiking several miles and is an isolated hunting/hiking/etc area. It's a little off the beaten path and is not too often frequented by touristy types.

35-65 year old white male (they leaned more towards 40s-50s)
6' tall
"Forensic examiners say he suffered from severe degeneration in his back and neck and was most likely suffering severe back pain."
"The man had extensive dental work, including gold work, crowns, bridges and fillings in almost all his teeth, suggesting the man had money." - one of the men who found the body said "He took his foot and rolled the skull over, and I saw a gold crown..." some reports on the body also mention a single gold crown specifically.
The body was found with lots of camping/survival gear including a water filtration device (Fisher bought one the day of the murders, "military-style canteens," ear plugs, etc.
The body was found with no ID or wallet but over $600 cash.
The death appeared to be natural but the body was found with a note - some of it was rendered unreadable by the elements - the only really clear part says "Lib, I should write in case my situation here doesn't improve. This may be the end of my journey." It goes on to mention being cremated claiming of his body.
The location where the car was dumped would be on the way from Scottsdale to this location in Colorado if you were traveling "as the crow flies" going directly through national forest etc and avoiding main roads.
The information made available on these remains is mostly through news articles and private websites. It has not been put on NamUs (the official national database for missing persons and unidentified remains), is not on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation database of unidentified remains and I cannot find a NCIC case number - so there's a chance it could have flown under the radar in connection to Fisher.

I think Fisher may have been assisted by people, wittingly or unwittingly, in traveling through wilderness and sparsely populated areas and ended up camping out at this location where he either succumbed to the elements, injured himself gravely or killed himself. Maybe "Lib" was one of these people - whether a stranger, or willing family member/girlfriend whatever. This theory would also explain why no one has claimed this body (odd for a well-cared for man of this age) over the years. He knew they would look for him in Arizona and New Mexico. Colorado and Utah would make sense.

Hi Lucid, I myself have been keeping an eye on remains that haven't been identified. I have thoroughly researched all that have been found in AZ. Contrary to popular belief (e.g. CSI shows, etc.), there is no national database for teeth X-rays. The police have Fisher's dental but it physically has to be matched to another set if a body is found and suspected to be his. This is pretty interesting regarding the remains you have pointed out in your post, typically an individual would let a friend or family member know where they would be camping, this individual appears to have went off on their own. Most of the items recovered with those remains fit Fisher, the amount of supplies, etc. He did have a heavy chewing tobacco habit but he very well could have switched to cigarettes as that would be easier while traveling in the wilderness (chewing tobacco would make one very thirsty). I am definitely going to research this further and speak with someone regarding this, even if it's not him, it's at least worth a shot at calling as it does have a lot that fits him. It happens a lot where stuff slips under the radar, as you said this was never entered in NamUS and possibly not NCIC.

Ah well that could be problematic - the boots found were size 9... which
is kind of odd size 9 is pretty small for a man of 6' but I doubt
anyone with a size 13 could shove their feet into a size 9 and hike for
miles and miles.

There was a lot of speculation about his having a female companion that helped him get away, this never proven. I've read the packet several times before, trying to piece stuff together.
