From the AMW archives:
On December 13, 1992, police say Brandon Widener spent his day cheering on the Los Angeles Rams before heading home to Chino, Calif. where he lived with his dad. San Bernardino, Calif. cops say that Brandon received a call from his dad while he was at home, and told his father that he was going to get something to eat.
Police say that Brandon drove his 1977 Chevrolet El Camino to nearby Chino Hills and pulled up to a strip mall K-Mart at Chino Hills Pkwy. and Pipeline Ave. Witnesses say they saw Brandon get pushed out of his car by a suspect, who then moved into the driver's seat and drove away with Brandon's vehicle.
Cops say that Brandon had been shot in the chest, and he managed to walk about 200 feet towards the store. They say he entered the breezeway of the K-Mart, where he fell down and died at the scene.
Cops say Brandon's vehicle was found the following day approximately three miles away from where he was killed. They say that the El Camino was still intact, and nothing had been stolen from the car.
Friends and family described Brandon as a good student who was well-liked. He was a sophomore who liked sports, fishing, and surfing. Brandon had just lost his mother to cancer six months prior to his murder, and his horrific death left his two older sisters and father even more grief-stricken.

Thoughts? I've placed Brandon's case in the unsolved on tv section since as seen above it was profiled as a web-exclusive case on America's Most Wanted's old website. According to the San Bernardino DA and the San Bernardino County cold case websites sadly this case is still unsolved. According to the D.A.'s website, a man named Paul Kim may hold the key to solving Brandon's murder. Kim was involved in street racing back in the early 1990’s when Brandon was murdered: www.sbcountyda.org/ProsecutingCriminals/ProsecutingCriminals/ColdCaseUnit/WeNeedYourHelp.aspx
