This thread is to discuss Dirty Dozen fugitive Jose Corona, wanted for killing his wife with a chainsaw. In my 16 years of watching AMW, this is IMO the most brutal murder I have ever seen on this show. It seems obvious to me from interviews and airings Corona is likely in Mexico with his family helping him to hide. www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=72475www.cityoflewisville.com/about-us/departments-services/police/general-information/lewisville-s-most-wanted (UPDATE: As of July 19th, 2018, Corona is still listed on the city of Lewisville site as a wanted fugitive). The worst-case possiblity in this manhunt is that it becomes Desiree Lingo-Perkins again; authorities know where Corona is hiding but they need an exact address to arrest him.

I have no doubt he's in Mexico, it's so simple for him and many other Hispanics wanted for crimes in the US to blend in. They all seem to be the same, commit a crime in the States then flee back to their native South America country. Unfortunately these countries don't do that much to find these individuals since they aren't wanted in their own country which makes it much more challenging to track them down.

I am not bumping this up because of Corona's coincidental last name during a pandemic (at the time of this posting)- but apparently Corona was named the "scariest" AMW fugitive still-at-large on a YouTube video last year. I would agree that this was one of the most horrific cases AMW aired- to the point where I wonder how In Pursuit would handle it if they were to ever profile him- but it does sort of surprise me Corona does not seem to have the same publicity as long-time AMW fugitives (in my opinion) and I thought it was due time he was bumped up again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4PFOkb4iJk

Also as of today, April 6, 2020, Jose Corona is still listed on the Lewisville, Texas Most Wanted page. The URL appears to have changed slightly so I'll post that below. www.cityoflewisville.com/about-us/city-departments/police-department/general-information/lewisville-s-most-wanted

Yes it's often been discussed how two fugitives wanted for two of the most heinous crimes in AMW history are coincidentally from the same small town.

Since I feel guilty about accidentally neglecting the case (I didn't realize the gap between years in us talking about the manhunt) I've decided to make Corona our fugitive of the week for this week (May 24th-30th, 2020).

I'm really surprised I've never commented on Corona before this point. I think all of us have unfortunately overlooked him, even though he's wanted for possibly the most horrific crime in AMW history. Corona's case is one of a very, very few that I don't mind taking up multiple segments of the show, since there's really so much to talk about here.
Corona's daughter told AMW that she believes her father's family is protecting him, and that's something that seems likely. She said that her father's family never liked her mother. On the other hand, and I don't like speculating this because I worry it'll make people less likely to look for him, but part of me wonders if he killed himself. AMW's reenactment portrayed him as incredibly paranoid and emotional. I could definitely see him realizing - perhaps after getting drunk - the horror of what he'd done and then deciding to off himself. At the same time, though, we know AMW sometimes took liberties with its reenactments, and nobody was present when he committed the murder, so how do we know if he was sniffling and crying as he prepared the chainsaws for the horror he was about to commit?

Very valid points Pakman brought up! I actually forgot that the daughter told AMW that she believes Jose is being protected by his family, especially considering Jose's side of the family never liked Maria Corona. As for the possibility of Jose committing suicide after Maria's murder, that's a possibility since this is a domestic violence homicide. The one comment I would like to make is that I'm pretty sure he was seen on surveillance on an interstate close to Mexico. If that's true then he probably wouldn't have travelled from the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area to near Mexico just to do that. Anything is possible though.
