Case
Details: Joan Jeffries was a clerk at an aerospace firm in Houston, Texas who helped software engineer Sam Patel build a commuter airline company called Best Aviation. Joan was on the company's Board of Directors. As a key employee, her life was insured for a quarter of a million dollars and she recieved a monthly salary, but over seven months, she only got one check and it bounced. In November 1994, Patel came to her with a certified check he needed Xeroxed, returning to Joan's home three times in one night. Two weeks later after a business dinner with Patel, Joan would be found dead in her car; she was shot twice to the head and twice to the chest. She was missing her purse and keys, but still had her diamond necklace. At the time, she was owed $4000 in back wages and was planning to walk away from the company, but Patel disputes and denies the claims and memories of Joan's daughter, Kelley Walker, involving him and Joan.
Suspects: Sam Patel is still a suspect in the case. He has yet to turn over the shirt he was wearing that night to the police. Kelley believes Sam had to murder Joan while she was an employee in order to collect the insurance and staged the flimsy robbery to divert attention from himself.
Extra Notes: This segment originally ran on the April 12, 1996 episode.

Thoughts? Joan's case has never aired on America's Most Wanted to the best of my knowledge but it is being placed in the Unsolved on TV section since, as noted above, it has aired on Unsolved Mysteries.
