I was only mildly surprised at his addition because the details on the case were initially vague- but once they added him they expanded on that aspect- his age stands out and was a logical choice for publicity reasons. (Of course, you want justice for the alleged victims as well- but the top ten list is not always the worst of the worst but who the FBI thinks would have a good chance of capture from added exposure).
Whoever is hiding Castillo- and I still believe he's getting help from some sort of adult or adults although I don't want to accuse anyone directly- has done a good job so far- but I guess we'll see what happens in the future.

The FBI Charlotte Twitter page tweeted about Castillo’s case on 5/30/19 and said the following;
Help the #FBI & @cmpd find Alejandro Castillo he was added to the Top Ten Most Wanted list in 2017. We have followed a number of solid leads, your tip could be the key to catching him to bridge him to justice.

Wow really thought he'd be an easy capture. Not wrong often but in my defense I did stress if he stayed on the run it was- while not directly accusing anyone specifically- because he is receiving help.
I feel he unfortunately has people a lot smarter than he actually is helping him hide.

I feel he unfortunately has people a lot smarter than he actually is helping him hide. Ahmia Feaster, Castillo’s girlfriend at the time of Sandy Ly Le’s murder said that they were staying with some relatives of Castillo in Aguascalientes, Mexico, before Feaster Surrendered In October 2016. Also the problem with Castillo is that he blends in well to a group of young people that are currently supposed to be in College, so perhaps Castillo is blending in as a student in some college campus in Mexico. Sadly if Castillo stays at large (which I hope it isn’t the case), it’ll be 3 years since he went on the run and Ahmia Feaster turned herself in. Alejandro Castillo, along with Santiago Mederos, Bhadreshkumar Patel and Rafael Caro-Quintero are the first bunch challenging fugitives the FBI has added since the addition of Yaser Said in 2014 or maybe even since the addition of the 3 difficult fugitives added during October 2009. However with Castillo (and also Mederos) they do have other individuals involved that could be key in solving the puzzle as to where they are.

When I think of this case,I think of the DeFrancisco sisters Margaret and Regina from Illinois who went on the run at 16 and 17 after the brutal murder of Regina's ex-boyfriend and were able to stay on the run for close to two years despite their age due to their family hiding them out. IMO,that is the case here as well. You don't stay on the run while you're 17-18 and on the FBI's Top Ten List without help,you just don't.

Just wanted to mention we were discussing Jason Brown and whether he had family helping him. My feeling is while anything is possible, it would not surprise me if Brown completely cut ties with his family because he knows law enforcement will track them and it's taking a huge risk. I figured I'd bring up this topic again since it reminded me it may sound contradictory in my saying Castillo is likely having someone older help him, while not accusing anyone specific, whether it be an older relative friend etc... because he has had/no choice. He was a teenager when he went on the run and didn't have the life experiences, education, or wherewithal Brown had at a much older and wiser age. So in Castillo's case, in my opinion, he has/had to take the risk of outside help because there was no other options. Also I realize we have young posters here and I'm not saying all young people are ignorant or anything like that- quite frankly it is the baby boomers/generation X and not millennials that have been selfishly behind the times (sorry for a rare non off-topic political statement but they are the reason for the two party candidates in 2016 Presidential race being the most bought and paid for candidates of all-time) and it is young people who are making a difference in the world right now, I actually thank the world for how mature and tolerable of others millennials and even post-millennials are compared to even when I was in school- but to go on the run and stay on the run despite being on the top ten list as a teenager when mob bosses and Ivy League college graduates have been caught quicker, there must be someone with some wits helping you as it's very hard to be on your own without more life experience. When I was 17, I thought I was smarter than adults before college and life happened. So trust me, Castillo is getting help from someone.

What I take from that Tweet is they have narrowed down the general vicinity of where he is - they just need the exact location. Considering his age, I strongly believe he’s had some assistance while on the run.

The FBI appears to have unblurred Alejandro Castillo’s 2015 Photo which is the main one used by the FBI. The fact that they’ve changed his poster once already since his addition nearly 2 ago is interesting. I’m shocked that 2 years ago we all said Castillo would be the easiest to locate and has been on the Top Ten List and within the last 2 years veterans Jesus Munguia and Eduardo Ravelo have been captured so far.

For whatever reason, it seems like a lot of the photos on the FBI website are blurred. Jason Derek Brown’s is, too.

Here are the travel advisories for the Mexican states in which Alejandro Castillo is believed to be hiding in. Aguascalientes state – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution Exercise increased caution due to crime. There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees. Guanajuato state – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution Exercise increased caution due to crime. The majority of gang-related violence occurs in the south of the state, near the border with Michoacán, and is often linked to the widespread theft of petroleum and natural gas from the state oil company and other suppliers. There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees. Veracruz state – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution Exercise increased caution due to crime. There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees. All 3 states seem like they are in much better shape than the states Mederos and Jimenez are believed to be in. I think Castillo should be an easy capture. travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/mexico-travel-advisory.html

Honestly looking at the Wikipedia page for the fugitives that started off the 2020s, I’m shocked and surprised that Alejandro Castillo even gets the distinction to start a new decade as a Top Ten Fugitive, lets hope he’s the first guy to go down during this decade.

I will admit Castillo has surprised me that he's not caught yet, after all my talk about how he's young and won't stay on the run for that long I now feel like I can hear him yelling "ok boomer!" and mocking me from Mexico and I'm not even a boomer! I still feel though that the main reason he's still at large is not necessarily his resourcefulness- but the resourcefulness of whoever the older people are that are helping him. I'm being passive-aggressive as I have my feelings as to who must be helping him- so I'll just say he must be getting help from someone.

I can finally reveal since he is now on In Pursuit with John Walsh's tip form that Castillo will get a profile this season.
