Could be. Still in shock he's not caught yet. If anyone ever compiled a list of my comments on cases and did an article called "Times Scumhunter was a genius" and "Times Scumhunter was dead wrong on a case", me predicting he'd be a relatively easy fugitive to catch because of his age would come back to haunt me. (Not to sound too egotistical, I feel I'm usually right and usually young fugitives are caught quickly, I bet even the FBI wasn't expecting the Castillo manhunt to be this difficult).

You and I were both wrong and I thought they were going to pull a Brenda Delgado with him, but you also have to take into consideration that Mexico unfortunately has been deteriorating since he went on the run, and a kid at his age could turn to bad groups or may have been killed by them because of his lack of street smarts. Life in Mexico is on another level especially now with the current situation in many parts of that country, and if a person doesn’t have the street smarts, and take everything for granted, people like that sadly won’t last long over there with that attitude, except for the resorts though.

His lack of street smarts is exactly why I thought he wouldn't stay on the run for long but you make some good points
Maybe this is my pride in still refusing to acknowledge I was wrong but I also do feel strongly about the possibility older adults (without accusing anyone directly) are helping him hide and it's really them who have been successful (so far at least) at hiding Alex as opposed to him having any savvy.

P.S. I realize you're young yourself so I don't want to sound like the cranky older person (even though I'm a technical millennial) who underestimates young people and doesn't appreciate how smart some of them can be. But while I wouldn't cast doubt on a "regular" teenage fugitive successfully hiding for years, I really wasn't expecting a 17 year old on the frigging top ten list to outsmart the FBI (at least so far) when they've caught much older and educated fugitives with genius IQs.

The good thing is the FBI has acknowledged on Twitter that they have received some VERY promising tips on him. I don't think he will be on the run much longer.

It says they updated/modified profile today on the Wanted app but I can't tell what they edited.

It says they updated/modified profile today on the Wanted app but I can't tell what they edited. What they edited was the part where it said “should be considered armed and dangerous with violent tendencies and an escape risk” to “considered armed and extremely dangerous”. They also could’ve reformatted his photo which is another reason they update posters and what to look for if none of the text of said poster has not been updated or altered. Keep in mind, this month marks 5 years since Alejandro Castillo disappeared along with Ahmia Feaster (who surrendered in October 2016). But I honestly thought Castillo had gotten caught when I saw the notification tbh.

Yeah I did too tbh. I know I'm beating a dead horse but I have no idea how he's still at large.

Also another thing to point out, tomorrow is Thursday, and Castillo is the one that gets bumped up on the Ten Most Wanted section, so unless they’re planning a reward increase or release age progressed images or altered images of what he looks like now, 5 years later at age 22.

Robert Fisher was bumped up instead which makes sense as Sandy Le’s remains being discovered happened on August 17th, so he’ll be next weeks bumped up case.

This is probably the most positive news I’ve heard in this case, and it seems like investigators are closing in hopefully.

Hope so, it is odd in that Castillo's been on the run for a shorter amount of time than other fugitives, but I'm more frustrated he isn't caught than even colder fugitive cases because I understand why they've been so difficult to capture while I didn't think Castillo would/should be this difficult a capture. Hopefully this is a sign they're closer.

Wondering if this is going to turn out like Gerald Keith Watkins where one of the fugitive’s friends eventually provides a phone number to the FBI. Perhaps even raising the reward to $200,000 could loosen some lips.

This month marked 6 years since the murder of Sandy Le, and I’m a bit surprised nothing has come up in the news about Castillo apart from a Spanish language article from Charlotte a month ago.
It could also be that Castillo has been given some extra publicity with the recent additions and capture in the last 8 weeks. Personally I feel like they might be onto Castillo ever since the high profile the capture of Rafael Caro-Quintero and how it’s high profile nature in the United States and in Mexico that it put the top ten list on the spotlight, including the faces believed to be in Mexico like Arnoldo Jimenez, Alejandro Castillo, and Omar Cardenas (which was good timing in adding Omar Cardenas IMO).
Over the years it seemed investigators had a general idea where he is, but given how quiet the case has been on its anniversary compared to other fugitives like Bhadreshkumar Patel, and Arnoldo Jimenez, it’s my personal assumption that they’re likely onto Castillo.
