Waqas Rehman was John Walsh's #10 Most Wanted fugitive of 2006.
In 2004, Waqas, then 27, befriended a 12 year old girl online. After several emails and instant messages, they met twice. Both times they met, Waqas molested the 12 year old. He fled before being convicted.
An article in 2008 interviewed Rehman's victim. The paper usually does not publish the names of minor victims but Nicole and her mother wanted their identity known to raise awareness of online sexual predators.
I remember Rehman's profile was right around the time Dateline NBC's "To Catch A Predator" became a phenomenon and although it's not like he wasn't bad enough to make it without it, the sudden popularity of that theme and sad reality was probably a big reason he made Walsh's list.
Rehman is believed to be from Pakistan. And perhaps he fled back there. But wherever he is, he probably still hasn't stopped trying to contact young children and needs to be found before he harms any more if he hasn't already.
