(Above photo credit: fbi.gov) From the FBI.Gov website: The FBI San Francisco Division and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office are seeking information from the public to help solve the murder of Jennifer Lin. On May 27, 1994, then-14-year-old Jennifer Lin, also known as Jenny Lin, was brutally murdered in her home in Castro Valley, California, after returning from school. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office has created a website to provide the public with information regarding developments and advancements in this investigation, including new photos and a 3D model of Lin’s residence developed by the FBI’s Laboratory Division. If you have any information concerning this murder, please contact the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office at (510) 667-3622 or the FBI San Francisco Division at (415) 553-7400. Public tips can remain confidential.www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/sanfrancisco/news/press-releases/seeking-information-in-jenny-lin-murder-investigationThoughts? I will include links with more information on Jenny's case below- but it seems authorities believe they may already know who killed her- a man in Oregon serving three life sentences named Sebastian Alexander Shaw. However, it appears there is not that one final piece to the puzzle to officially charge Shaw and/or name him Jenny's killer. Hopefully the new FBI publicity leads to more concrete answers that can finally solve Jenny's murder once and for all. Moving our thread to the Unsolved on TV section since In Pursuit with John Walsh's Facebook page made a posting about Jenny's case yesterday (see the show's May 26th, 2019 status updates).

I think the reason is clear why they are profiling her case: they want Shaw sent to death row. Sure, it may be symbolic in California, since there is a moratorium on executions there, but still, they do have it. If it’s as brutal as the FBI has indicated, they may be able to convince a jury to send him to death row once they have enough evidence.

Very good thought. I also think although there is solace in knowing your loved one's killer is never going to see the light of day again, you still want the ultimate "closure" (there's never such a thing as closure but as far as the legal proceedings go) of a court of law actually holding him accountable and saying "you did this."
It is a bit bittersweet for Jenny's family to (so far at least) know who likely killed her but still not have the satisfaction of stated fact. John Walsh knew Ottis Toole killed Adam and still had no satisfaction in that until the 27th year when they finally acknowledged it. Jenny's family deserves the official declaration as well.

I hope one day they find enough to officially name him as Jenny's killer, in the same vain that even though John Walsh pretty much knew Ottis Toole killed Adam, it wasn't until 2008 when it was made official that he finally felt a sense of resolution. (Never closure of course, but a sense of resolution).

(Never closure of course, but a sense of resolution). If Shaw was indeed the killer, I hope Jennifer’s family can take solace in knowing that he died in prison while serving a life term. It may not have been for Jennifer’s case, but he died a convicted murder behind bars.

Interesting part is that they have eliminated Shaw as a suspect. The Sheriff indicated he had “possible suspects” which probably means they are narrowing people down via DNA evidence.
