(Above photo credit: wtic12.com) Authorities in North Carolina have spent 20 years trying to identify who shot five people, killing three of the victims in a small town. I don't know if the case was aired on AMW in the mid-late 90s. On Jun 6, 1993, six employees were at the Belo Grocery Store in Windsor, North Carolina, closing the store early to strip the flooring. Authorities say a man who was already in the store, bound the employees with duct tape, then stacked the employees into piles. The man then shot into in the piles, hitting five of the employees and killing three of them. The man then disappeared. The killer at the time was described as a 30-35 year old black male, with a solid build, military-style haircut with a possible sports injury on his nose. I found an archived article two days after the crime, it mentioned that the killer said he was a former police officer and that he may have had an accomplice. A white car with Maryland state plates was seen speeding out of town after the murders. The murders were described as military-style executions. --- Thoughts? What baffles me is that considering the killer was likely from Maryland, why he picked a rural town in North Carolina to commit a horrific shooting, especially a town that's not close to any interstate highway. He may have had some ties to either the town or the surrounding area. I also feel that he was once in the military based on the way the murders were committed and his physical description. Admin Note: According to most recent article at time of this edit, If you have information about this case, call the Windsor Police Department (252) 794-3111 or the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation at (800) 334-3000. What still baffles me is why this killer decided to commit his crime in a small North Carolina community, especially if he was presumably from Maryland. I think this was a planned crime however, judging by the use of duct-tape, the killer saying he was a former police officer and the possible accomplice. Also nice advice by the way Scumhunter. It's always good to know how to be prepared for situations like that.

Perhaps the killer had an old grudge with the employees of the store in the past and decide to get his deadly revenge after something went sour with him many years before. I am pretty sure that it wasn't a random killing but a premeditated one.

I found an article from this past February on the case, detailing the experiences of those that were involved in the investigation of this horrific unsolved case. One of the website commentators did make a really great observation that elaborates on the belief that the killer had military experience. This crime occurred right after the Persian Gulf War so perhaps the killer was a soldier in that conflict. wavy.com/2014/02/24/nc-cold-case-remains-unsolved-after-20-years/

I do wonder if there has been some research done with sketch through those who served in the US Army back in the days or even a research done with the license plates of the car

According to Newspapers.com, the Be-Lo Triple Murder case aired on the June 26-July 2, 1994 week edition of Prime Suspect. Prime Suspect was a syndicated version of America's Most Wanted back in the mid-90s.
With this information, I will move this case to the Unsolved Crimes on TV subforum.

I’m wondering if they sent copies of the killer’s composite to various military bases on the East Coast. It’s a really well-done side profile. I think it’s definitely a composite where someone could recognize the killer. I’m also wondering if he left his own fingerprints on the duct tape? The military would have the killer’s fingerprints on record if he was in the military (that’s how they obtained Robert Fisher’s).

youtu.be/V8IiK4_BKLMAccording to this, they have the killer’s DNA. Wondering if capture may be just a matter of time with genealogy technology. They have done countless searches in prison databases to no avail. Makes me suspect that the killer has been able to stay out of trouble since 1993.
