From ABC 7 Chicago:
SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) --
Police in northwest suburban South Elgin are asking for the public's help locating 9-year-old Kayla Unbehaun who they said was abducted by her mother and hasn't been seen since July 4.
Police said Kayla's father went to pick her up from her mother's house in Wheaton on July 5 but she wasn't there. Kayla's mother, Heather Unbehaun, 35, had allegedly packed her car on July 4 and left with Kayla.
Heather has not had any contact with family since leaving with Kayla, police said.
Kayla Unbehaun is described as is described as a white girl 4 ft. 2 in. to 4 ft. 6 in tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Heather Unbehaun is described as a white woman, 5 ft. 3 in. tall and 135 lbs. with blonde hair and green eyes. She is believed to be driving a 2000 Toyota Camry with expired Georgia license plate PTM 3975.
The Kane County State's Attorney's office has approved one charge of child abduction when for Heather when she is located.

Thoughts? What I find weird is the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children only mentions Kayla and does not have a suspected abductor or "companion" profile for Heather Unbehaun like they do for other child abduction cases on their site. They only vaguely state she may in the company of her mother. The only thing I can think of is perhaps this is because there was not an official initial charge and articles only stated Heather would be charged once located. But according to a January 2018 article which states Kayla and Heather may be in Georgia, there is now in fact a warrant for Heather's arrest: www.cbs46.com/story/37247367/authorities-believe-non-custodial-parent-who-kidnapped-child-now-in-georgia
P.S. I found that article as a result of finding a "Bring Kayla Home" Facebook page about this case.
Also, as of this posting date (2/27/2018), Kayla would be 10 years old, and Heather would be around 35.
