HUGE breaking news guys! John Walsh will have a new show on the ID channel next year called "In Pursuit with John Walsh" I have not yet checked with any sources to see if essentially this means John Walsh is moving to the ID channel but once again this is speculation on my part and don't take my word for it but I feel it is and this show will essentially The Hunt but moving to a new channel. Personally not to knock CNN or HLN but I feel this is great news! CNN no longer had room for The Hunt because of constant breaking news and HLN was a much smaller network. ID is a very popular channel and true crime fanatics in particular flock to it. I would like to thank CNN and HLN for having John Walsh if he has indeed moved on to ID. They did a lot of good and caught a few fugitives and even returned home a few missing children. www.google.com/amp/s/www.broadwayworld.com/amp/c.php%3furl=Investigation-Discovery-Teams-with-Victims-Rights-Activist-John-Walsh-to-Track-Down-Fugitives-with-Real-Time-Investigation-20180410

CNN then HLN have done a great job with The Hunt, but obviously the future of seems very uncertain for The Hunt now, also I’m curious if John Walsh will use both shows, one in the winter and another in the summer? Also it’ll be interesting to see which format In Pursuit will take, either an AMW styled one, or The Hunt.

Once again we will wait and see but my sense is this show IS essentially The Hunt, just a new name and on the ID channel.
If that's the case, I wouldn't consider The Hunt a cancelled show, just a new name and network.

Also just a note guys but I will make an "Upcoming on "In Pursuit with John Walsh" thread" when I feel the time is appropriate.
Seeing how the show won't debut until 2019, unless we learn of a bunch of potential upcoming cases, I don't see a need to create a thread this early this yet.

My impression was he'd be making The Hunt to focus on his top cases, then In Pursuit would be that breaking news / AMW style show we'd been waiting for over several years.

Once again even though I'm speculating, my personal feeling is "The Hunt" is gone and this will be for all essential purposes its' successor. One thing we need to take into account is in addition to being a lesser viewed network, while CNN did, I'm not sure if HLN had the budget to continue The Hunt considering it's a highly stylized show with re-enactments, travel expenses etc.. Those 16 episodes from last season I believe were filmed with the expectation that they would be on CNN and simulcast on HLN. Unfortunately, CNN's breaking news, which for some reason was mostly about some out there guy with an orange face and weird hair-do, prevented that from happening, and all the episodes wound up on HLN only instead.
It should also be taken into account John Walsh is now in his 70's and I'm not sure he'd even WANT to do two shows on two networks even if he could.
It's format we do not know yet of course, but being it's being produced by the same production company (Zero Point Zero) it will likely be similar in style at least.
I hope you two are right and I'm wrong as two shows are better than one, but I feel this is The Hunt's formal replacement, but I am very excited as the ID channel is a very popular channel!

I think if Callahan is beginning to help his father John, it’s possible that both shows could continue IMO. However the problem with The Hunt is that it came 2 years before an election and a year before the process happened. Plus I blame CNN for The Hunt’s demise, because CNN obviously reported during the election season and the presidents first 100 days, but the talk on there would probably be Russia, Stormy Daniels, etc, instead of other meaningful issues. That’s why Hunt was simulcasted on HLN, and sadly it probably didn’t go down too well as you’ve stated. I respect both networks, but if CNN didn’t spend too much time on “collusion” and Stormy Daniels, we would have had a solid show for 8-10 years, now I hope they do keep The Hunt on HLN, with 8 episodes and air that in the summer time, and air In Pursuit with 16 episodes from January to May. From the beginning I thought it probably wasn’t a good idea to have a John Walsh show on CNN/HLN, since there was an upcoming election, and take the spotlight away from the show with news and then moving the show to a lesser known channel. But hey at least we still have Zero Productions ☺️.

They did a lot of good with John Walsh and when it comes to getting justice you go where you're wanted and CNN's president, Jeff Zucker, had asked John Walsh, who was essentially retired, to come back on tv. Also I believe the Hunt was originally simulcast on HLN alongside CNN not because of just in case of breaking news but rather because the show was so popular and it was to increase viewers as two channels equaled even more viewers and an even better chance at captures. I don't believe the intention was eever for The Hunt to air on ONLY HLN. The breaking news unfortunately made it so. I think right now the best course of action is to know for sure John Walsh will be on the ID channel at the very least.

So has there been any confirmation on whether Season 4 or 5 of The Hunt is the series finale on HLN? The article page denied my access due to my Adblock on my computer so I don't know if there's been any definitive answer on that. Aside from that, I look forward to Investigation Discovery taking control of the show. They seem to be a very high quality network, and hopefully they get a long-running show. At least more networks aside from FOX have taken interest in fugitive-profiling in recent years.

From Variety magazine: "“America’s Most Wanted” veteran John Walsh is relocating to Investigation Discovery with “In Pursuit with John Walsh,” another vehicle focused on tracking down fugitives and cracking cold cases." variety.com/2018/tv/news/discovery-scripps-food-network-martha-stewart-john-walsh-upfront-1202749585/So this seems to confirm once again that ZPZ and JW and company decided to move to the ID channel. So it looks like season 4 was the last season of "The Hunt." Keep in mind there had been nothing about casting calls which we usually find out about for the past year. And in addition, I called the Hunt hotline twice in the past few weeks and both times the message said "thank you for calling The Hunt" and then disconnected (the first time I called during an off-hour as to not bother anyone but the second time I called during a working hour to make sure it would disconnect then as well). Unless I find out otherwise, once again, it looks like last year was The Hunt's final season and next year will be a new show with John Walsh on ID. How many episodes, what the format will be like etc... we do not know just yet. Not just my speculation anymore, even Variety seems to confirm it.

But this news today makes sense.

Sorry for posting a lot on this thread, it’s just that this news shocked me a ton, but here’s a couple things I predict may or may not change, with the New Show and channel.
The first is thing is the format will unlikely change since Zero Productions will still be at John Walsh’s side and make In Pursuit. The second is given that it’s a new show on a new network, we’ll likely go back to 8 (Maybe 10) episodes (or depending on how many ID orders) in order to test the waters for Season 1.
Also I must add that there may be some flexibility with scheduling and instead of airing a season annually, they can air new seasons semi-annually like twice a year having both season 1 and 2 in 2019, 3 & 4 in 2020.
