According to Newspapers.com, in April of 1991, Mario Martinez pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of Elias Valenzuela, as well as an unrelated possession of heroin charge. Elias was shot to death at a downtown Phoenix motel. Mario was to serve a 10-year sentence for the guilty plea but he escaped on August 11, 1991.

Thoughts? Continuing on with the Arizona prison escapees, I can confirm that as of today, August 31, 2018, Mario is still listed as a wanted fugitive on the Arizona Department of Corrections online inmate listing for him.
Since Mario would only be 57-years of age as today, I feel there needs to be a new publicity effort at some point regarding the manhunt. Especially since he has only served no more than four months of his 10-year sentence to date, plus counting any additional years he would get for escaping.
