George Navarro is wanted in connection with a murder case out of Grenada Hills, California that we should add to the Stupidest Murders Hall Of Fame. He was aired three times in 2008.
On Sep 8, 2001, Melesio "Mel" Martinez, his wife and two of Mel's brothers went to a grocery store in when they encountered George Navarro and his fellow gang members. Navarro noticed Mel's tattoo on his chest and asked about his gang affiliation. Mel walked away from Navarro but Navarro waited for Mel to leave the grocery store. When Mel was outside, Navarro shot him three times, killing him in front of his family. A fellow gang member, 25-year old Brian Phillips was arrested in connection with the murder, but released due to a lack of evidence. Navarro is still wanted. The saddest thing about this murder, was that Mel's tattoo on his chest depicted a Spanish language message of love to his mother and had nothing to do with gang affiliation.
Thoughts? According to one of the online articles, Navarro may have fled to Costa Rica. If so then he may still be there.
