(Above: Meza, circa 1986. Photo Credit: Jensen Cold Cases on Facebook) (Above: Artist renderings showing what Meza may look like in 2019 at age 64. Photo Credits:fox40.com via Justice for Eva Crist) From fox40.com: YUBA CITY -- Christina Gordon was 9 years old the last time she saw her mother. "Even when our parents split, we were always with our mom," Gordon told FOX40. "So to not have her there in the blink of an eye was very traumatizing." The year was 1986. Gordon's mother, 32-year-old Eva Crist, had recently broken up with Efran Caldera Meza, who was also 32 years old at the time. Yuba City police say Meza killed Crist, stabbing her to death in an alley behind the Oasis Tavern after seeing her dance with another man. He was never caught and four children were left without a mother. "It's not right," Gordon said. "He took a mom away from four children. And it's hard to explain to my kids why they'll never meet their grandmother or have her there for special events in my life or my sister's life." Gordon has lost touch with two of her siblings but she and her sister have made a mission of making sure their mother's case is not forgotten. "I've been doing this since I was 18 years old," she said. "I've been on the phone with the coroners, the lead detectives, everybody, trying to find out why nothing's being done." There's a Facebook page called Justice for Eva Crist and Gordon says the case is gaining new momentum with a new district attorney and a new lead detective working on it. They're hoping some new age-progressed renderings, made with help from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, will generate tips. "It would mean the world to me and my sister," Gordon said. "We're the only ones left and I don't want him to get away with it. I don't want her to die in vain like that and no justice be served." If he's still alive, Meza would be 64 years old. Investigators say Meza had a tattoo of a rosary with the letters "EXCM" next to it on his left hand. A tattoo of the name Carmen was on the left side of his chest, along with a scar. Meza has also gone by several other names that include Efern M. Calderas, Efrain Calderas, Efren Meza Calderas, Efren Caldrea, Epherain Meza Calderas, Efren Calderas Meza, Pedro G. Meza and Roberta Alvidrez. Anyone with information about the case has been asked to contact the Yuba City Police Department at 530-822-4661.fox40.com/2019/04/29/sisters-hope-renderings-will-breathe-new-life-into-1986-yuba-city-cold-case/Thoughts? Putting Meza in the Fugitives on TV section since In Pursuit with John Walsh's Facebook page made a posting about the manhunt earlier in the week (see the show's April 30th, 2019). I don't have an official public access warrants or court records site I can find to keep track of Meza's fugitive status, but we can say he is definitely still at large as of this posting date (5/1/2019), based on the In Pursuit publicity and passage of time UPDATE: As of September 14th, 2022 anyone with information on this fugitive's whereabouts can also call or text "In Pursuit" on the Investigation Discovery channel at 833-378-7783 and/or submit a tip at the show's website: www.InPursuitTips.comAdmin Note: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I really, really appreciate the NCMEC using their skills with computer age-enhanced images of missing children, and applying that ability to a longtime fugitive case.
Efran Meza would be 64-years of age today, so he's most likely still alive. It just takes the right person being aware of the new publicly and helping California authorities to finally apprehend him.

Obviously timed it to coincide with the airing on In Pursuit. But glad to know there's a UFAP should Meza be located in Mexico or elsewhere.

Question: does anyone know if he was arrested for a domestic or a violation of a protection order before the murder in 1986? Reason I ask is because that 1986 photo on the FBI’s website really looks like a mugshot.

Reason I ask is because that 1986 photo on the FBI’s website really looks like a mugshot. Unfortunately it would be the case, but then again people could get booked for public intoxication or traffic related violations, but given the crime that occurred, wouldn’t surprise me if it was a domestic dispute(s) that took place years before the murder. Sadly domestic violence murders usually in most cases carry a history of abuse, physical violence, sexual violence. Along with a mass shootings, shooting in a public setting, or murder of a child, a domestic violence murder is up there amongst how brutal they can be.

Will discuss more later, but on the episode itself, a private investigator received a Facebook photo of a man who looked an awful lot like Meza from someone in Mexico. However, the person deleted their profile upon further inquiry.

Summary of clues from last night's episode: Efren is now 68 years old, five foot four, has black hair, brown eyes and weighed 160 pounds at the time of his disappearance. He could be going by the aliases Efren Calderas, Pedro G Meza or Roberto Alivdrez. He has a rosary tattoo with the initials ECM on the palm of this left hand and one of the name Carmen on the left side of his chest. The photo PI Jensen was given that could possibly be of Efren had a distinctive door in the background that could help determine his whereabouts. He worked as a field laborer and could be also working as a migrant or field worker. It is believed that he could be in Nayarit or Zacatecas, Mexico. www.tvgrapevine.com/2022/09/in-pursuit-with-john-walsh-recap-for-unforgotten/(If anyone can screen grab that door and photo I'd appreciate it, it always takes me forever whenever I try).

Based on that door in the background, it looks like Mexico, specifically outside of a residence, made during the colonial era possibly, as to where it could be, it could be any part of Mexico.
