In April of 1986, in the Georgia town of Zebulon, 8-year-old Allison Renee Smith's body was found in a neighbor's yard, mauled by two two pitbulls. However, it would turn out the Georgia Bureau of Investigation would rule her death a homicide and that she was killed before being attacked by the pit bulls.
The neighbor of the mobile home where Allison was found was questioned but released after agreeing to undergo a polygraph examination. The neighbor denied killing Allison or being present during her murder. He reportedly stated "I didn't do it. I wasn't there."
According to a Facebook In Memorium posting, Allison may have also been sexually assaulted by her killer.

Thoughts? Sadly, as of this posting date (July 22nd, 2019), Allison's case is still listed as an unsolved homicide on the Project: Cold Case website database: www.projectcoldcase.org/
I'm quite shocked there is little online coverage about Allison, although I am assuming Zebulon is a very small town and that is the reason for the lack of press .
Quite frankly, I find the neighbor's response odd. I'm purposely not naming him since he was apparently never charged even though you can see his name in the article link, but I think adding "I wasn't there" is sort of volunteering information, answering a question no one asked. I stress I'm not accusing but I would like to know what the question was for that to be his response. In most cases "I didn't do it" is sufficient enough. If they had asked him if he did it and if he was there at once, it would be a more appropriate response.
