Dulce was mentioned on In Pursuit with John Walsh's Facebook page today (see the show's December 5th, 2019 status updates).

The AMBER Alert for Dulce Alavez is still in effect.

The reward for her safe return is $75,000, according to nj.com.

"The anonymous letters turning up in Ohio with references to missing New Jersey 5-year-old Dulce Maria Alavez are apparently arriving in New Jersey mailboxes, too.

More than five months after Dulce disappeared from a Bridgeton park during a family outing in September, letters were sent to two businesses and a library in Ohio referencing the missing girl.

A tip scribbled on an index card mailed to a racetrack and casino in Austintown Township prompted a search of a wooded area using dogs and drones last weekend, but nothing was found.

Jackie Rodriguez, who has been acting as a spokeswoman for Dulce’s family, reported Wednesday afternoon that she received a letter postmarked Cleveland, Ohio, that contained seven slips of paper filled with scribbled phrases - but nothing specific about Dulce.

She could make out words in the barely legible writing, including “Alaska,” “Mexico,” “border,” “1776” and “civil war.” Other words include “New England town” and “kids homes orphanage.”

Rodriguez turned the item over to police for investigation.

While he hadn’t seen that letter yet, Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari said Wednesday afternoon that investigators believe this is likely related to the letters received in Ohio.

The letter had no return address and arrived in her post office box.

“My husband said that it looked like a child’s handwriting,” Rodriguez said, but to her it looked like something familiar. Since Dulce’s disappearance, Rodriguez said she has frequently received random messages via social media from people claiming to be psychics with information about the child.

“People inbox me because they get visions that they know where she is,” she said. “They’ve sent me information like that before.”

A group of residents recently searched a field behind Dulce’s school based on a tip from a psychic, but nothing was found. Police also acknowledged getting similar tips.

Rodriguez is worried that someone has contacted her so directly in such a strange way. “It’s scary, because now it’s near my family,” she said.

Rodriguez feels the letters need to be taken seriously until they can be ruled out as evidence.

If these are phony leads, however, she wants to see someone held accountable.

“I really hope they do get whoever this is and press some kind of charges against them. What they’re doing is interfering with the investigation," she said. "The detectives are concentrating on facts and then this comes in and makes it even more difficult.”

Handwriting on the three items received in the eastern Ohio communities appears similar, authorities said.

An index card addressed to “Manager Hollywood Gaming” at the Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course advised police to search a nearby wooded area close to a truck stop along Interstate 80.

The writer states “76 truck stop dead end St. entrance woods. Please look.”

The search turned up nothing, but investigators want to take another look with K-9s once the weather warms up. The area is currently snow-covered.

While the return address on that index card is illegible, the ZIP code comes back to the town of Culiacan, Mexico. Investigators said they don’t know if that’s really the source of the card. The cards mailed to the casino and an ice cream shop in nearby Weathersfield don’t have postmarks, but a letter mailed to Austintown Library had a Cleveland postmark.

Investigators confirmed the card sent to Hollywood Gaming was delivered by a postal worker. Weathersfield police haven’t responded to questions about the card received in their community, which is a few miles from Austintown. The ice cream shop owner found the card in her mailbox Monday and took it to police, according to a police report.
