SAN ANTONIO - The parents of a young woman murdered on a Westside jogging trail hope a cash reward will convince someone to finally come forward with answers that can crack the unsolved case.
Mia Lutzenberger, 20, was found stabbed to death along the Leon Creek Greenway near Ingram Park Mall on October 30, 2018.

"It doesn't make any sense whatsoever," said her father John Lutzenberger. "I think about her every day. They just robbed us of everything."
"She was our only child and she didn’t deserve it," said her mother Petra Zamora. "We deserve the truth."
As part of a Crime Stoppers bulletin this week, police are releasing some new details about the circumstances surrounding Mia's stabbing death, which they say was not random. According to investigators, it happened around 5 in the morning as Mia walked with two female friends near the Border Brook Trailhead.
"The two females with the victim claimed someone tried to rob them as they were walking, hit them on their heads, and rendered them unconscious," the bulletin said. "The two females said they woke to find the victim dead."
By the time police arrived, the two women were standing with two men at the entrance to the trail. Police said all four were acquaintances of Mia, and none of them wore jogging clothes.
"And I will tell you from what I heard in the park, the stories do not add up," said Chief McManus on the day of the murder.
Officers found Lutzenberger about 100 yards into the trail. She'd been stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso, McManus said.
"I just don't believe any part of it," said her father. "Unbelievable how all this happened. It's very frustrating."
Mia's mom said the version of events described by detectives raised several red flags. "It's dark, she doesn’t know that trail, and we don't live anywhere near there," she said. "To be there when it's so dark? Those parks have no lighting. She didn't like being outdoors. Why would my daughter be out there?"
The next day, about 30 SAPD cadets and other officers searched the tall grass where Lutzenberger’s body was found looking for clues. Later in the week, police released a surveillance photo of man wanted for questioning about Mia's murder.
"The smallest tip can break the case," said Lutzenberger.
Investigators now confirm the man from the surveillance photo was eventually located, questioned, and cleared as a suspect.
"When everything happened, you think, 'Ok, it's there in front of you,'" said Zamora. "You think it's going to be closed. And we're sitting here a year later not knowing. The people who took Mia’s life are still out there. It's so much worse knowing that they get to live their life and Mia's got taken away. It's infuriating. We need to know the truth."
Mia's parents say her two friends have never reached out to them since the murder.
If you know what happened, you could received up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Just call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867).
