It is official! The Fox Network is looking to bring America's Most Wanted back, according to deadline.com They are looking to be more global, and will be looking for a new host, meaning John Walsh will not be involved. Thankfully we can still watch John on In Pursuit, AMW is an important show and a court of last resort/weekly show is needed as well. We shall see. I heard rumors about an AMW revival as early as last year but then it wasn't on Fox's fall schedule, hopefully now something really is coming into fruition. deadline.com/2020/01/americas-most-wanted-revival-global-reach-fox-john-walsh-1202823779/

This is great news, but I wish we can still have John Walsh’s charismatic presenting skills, but remember when we made that thread of who could possibly do AMW If it ever comes back? I guess now would be a good time to revisit that thread.
But honestly, I’ve gotten so attached to John Walsh that id still watch him regardless, but this new AMW should be interesting and it’s well needed after almost a decade off the air.

Not to sound ageist, but John is going to be 75 and already has In Pursuit and is in semi-retirement with Callahan helping him out on half of the show, I'm pretty sure even if they asked him to come back, he'd decline.
When AMW was still on the air, we all knew there would come a day where Walsh would retire and someone else would take over. (Most of us figured Callahan because he was son his son, but now that he's on the ID channel who knows). However, when AMW was cancelled for good, it ended the discussion of who would take over.
I still hope they consider Tom Morris. I've stated I was kind of disappointed in the case selection of season 1 of Live PD: Wanted (too many garden variety bank and business robbery segments you see on a local news broadcast and not enough known fugitives in my opinion), but I blame the producer's case selection, he's an excellent presenter and committed to the cause.

I don't have anyone in mind in particular. How many good candidates for the next AMW host can we think of?

I'm just happy AMW is possibly coming back and to me- while host is obviously important- the main goal is the mission.
Back in the 80's, the selections ran the gamut- a mix of actors, law enforcement-types and public advocates were all considered, but the show kept circling back to John Walsh and finally got him to say yes after he initially turned them down.
Among those we've discussed in the past are former AMW correspondents, Callahan Walsh, and Elizabeth Smart. That DOES NOT mean they are among the new candidates, as I don't want to start erroneous rumors, but in my opinion the new producers should start in that direction.
Keep in mind though the host presents the cases- it theoretically doesn't have to be a public victim's advocate and can be an actor like Robert Stack was when he was chosen as the full-time host of Unsolved Mysteries (and with UM supposed to be coming on Netflix this year- I think this is proof AMW and UM will forever be on tv- perhaps cancelled every now and then, but they always make their way back in some form)- as long as they care about the cases.
However, I would still go the public advocate route since a large part of AMW's success was John Walsh's credibility as an advocate.

Well this is wonderful to hear! Hopefully we can get a more successful revival compared to the Dennis Farina Unsolved Mysteries attempt.
Although I am a bit concerned about the global/Interpol angle they seem to be going for. Hopefully we still stick to the idea of getting local fugitives on a national/international publicity level.

I remember they said The Hunt would be international/go global with Interpol and it was still essentially the same show as AMW, just expanded profiles and a few more fugitives likely not in the states. I personally don't think the show will look too different, it's 2020 so I don't expect entirely the same format either, but I think they'll stick to a general formula of bad guys and other cases. There was always supposed to be a "World's Most Wanted" spinoff but I think that's what turned into The Hunt.

Also, in fairness to Dennis Farina, his version of UM wasn't exactly a reboot, it was his him voicing over the same cases Robert Stack did with some new updates about the same old cases that were later solved which didn't make any sense. The last truly new Unsolved Mysteries episode was 2001 on Lifetime.

If J.W. Isn't going to host the AMW revival then here are some names who I think would be good hosts....... Callahan Marc Klaas Plus also if AMW is going to be coming back does this possibly mean that the CAPTURES score board is going to be back? Plus....... If AMW's score board does come back, is it going to go all the way back down to zero? Cause I highly doubt that the captures thanks to Hunt and In Pursuit had/have generated aren't official AMW captures (even though some of those dirt bags are AMW profile/profiled/show case veterans).......?

Callahan Marc Klaas I think Marc Klaas would be a great candidate to host a possible return of AMW, also I was thinking maybe they should get John Bunnell (the guy who narrated “Worlds Wildest Police Videos”) out of retirement and do a season or two as he’s 75 years old as of this posting.

Once again not to sound ageist but Marc Klaas will be in his 70s and Bunnell as well and they're going to want a host at least in his/her 50's to grow with the show.
I have no idea about the capture scoreboard, a lot of that are worry when the time comes questions as I'll just be happy the show is coming back.

Fran Drescher is 62, but since she’s busy with other endeavors on TV sitcoms, I’m not sure if she’d have the time to undertake a role like that, but if she does she could possibly grow with the show.

We've discussed Fran Drescher with you before lol, but while many people don't know about her tragic backstory, unfortunately most know her as the lady with the screechy voice from a sitcom which is hard to take seriously. I'm not saying this to be rude but you're probably the only person who ever thinks of her for these shows lol.
I'll throw a wild card out there speaking of female actresses though- Pauley Perrette from NCIS- she is a longtime superfan of AMW and has a crime show background even if not a technical victim's advocate.
