Just realized that Cofer is not currently listed on the CNN tip form for some reason so if anyone who watched the show comes across out site wants to send in a tip on Cofer I'd click the link below, just check the box on any fugitive on the drop down menu, mention your tip is on Cofer and not that fugitive and then fill everything out and submit. www.cnn.com/interactive/2014/06/us/the-hunt/tip/ |

Hello All,
My apologies for not responding to the site for so long. I lost my husband and was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. Time has gotten away. I was thinking about my father. Thinking about the Buchanan’s and all those who worked on information on my father. I have come to realize that I will probably not live long enough to find out who killed him. I don’t even know if the detectives are still working to find his killer.
Someone contacted me a while back online and said to contact some old man at an automobile parts store that would have information about some kind of government thing but I didn’t understand what he was saying and I don’t have the energy now.
I’m tired and nobody seems to care about him anymore. So I’m putting him to rest along with my beloved husband of 30 years. My heart is broken but such is life.

Hello Deborah,
First of all let me state how sorry I am for the loss of your husband and your diagnosis. I know it is an understatement to say these are very unfair cards to have been dealt considering what you have already went through.
I'd like to think perhaps the reason your father's case (and the Buchanans) hasn't been solved is Cofer died shortly after going on the run and they never found his body. Or if it wasn't Cofer who killed your father, whoever it was also died shortly afterwards, justice already served but we don't know it. Or perhaps your father's killer is in jail for another murder, never getting out and never seeing the light of day again even if he "got away" with another one. Of course, that is wishful thinking on my part, and there wouldn't be the satisfaction of knowing, but at least the killer would not have been roaming free after all these years to hurt anyone else.
All I can say is I hope detectives are still working on your father's case, I know at the very least Marshals must still be working to track Cofer since the manhunt was aired on The Hunt a few years back. I understand perhaps you don't have the energy to do full investigative work like you have in the past, but perhaps just a simple quick phone call or e-mail to the police or detectives, remind them David's case is still out there may help.
If I ever get any information that I'm told is ok to share, I'll let you know. Or I'll forward it.
I hope you get answers one day, but I'll still keep your father's case in mind for as long as I'm running this forum.

No problem, for what it's worth, I made Cofer fugitive of the week for this week (May 31st-June 6th, 2002) so hopefully that gets a view more views even though it's admittedly not the same as a tv show profile.

Do we have any news on this? Has Cofer age enhanced sketch been published and distributed to the various law enforcement agencies? |
